T.J. Lavin, host of MTV’s “Real World/Road Rules Challenge,” is in a medically-induced coma after a crash during a BMX event, reports TMZ. The crash came when Lavin lost control of his bike during a jump at a Dew Tour event in Las Vegas.
Reportedly Lavin hit a dirt ramp, lost control and slammed hard to the ground, where he lay motionless. Lavin was rushed to the University Medical Center hospital and was placed in a coma due to swelling in his brain. He is listed in critical condition.
Lavin has hosted 10 seasons of “The Challenge” on MTV. He started as host in its 11th season, “The Gauntlet II,” which aired in 2005-2006, following in the footsteps of past “Challenge” hosts skier Jonny Moseley and fellow BMX athlete Davd Mirra.
