“I think the show confirms it, or gives you a better idea in about four or five episodes,” Panjabi tells Zap2it. “There is a feeling that she is interested in both. I think they just wanted it to be a bit of fun because the audience is mystified by her. Everybody is dying to get an answer to that question, and in time they will.”
In Season One, viewers saw Kalinda have sexual dalliances with both sexes, but whether it was for purely personal reasons or a means to other ends was always woven in. Matters are even more complicated with the addition of new in-house investigator Blake Calamar (Scott Porter). Are he and Kalinda competing, or flirting?
Panjabi hints that further clarification could come from Lili Taylor‘s upcoming appearances.
“The characters this year, the actors like Lili Taylor, have a certain quality which allows my character to open up a little bit,” says Panjabi. “We have not seen her yet. She plays someone very close to Kalinda from her past. They were definitely very close.”
[CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post mistakenly identified Scott Porter’s “Good Wife” character as Jason Street rather than Blake Calamar. Porter played Street on “Friday Night Lights.”]
