“Camp Rock 2” and “Sonny With a Chance” star Demi Lovato, 18, shocked many Monday (Nov. 1) when news broke that she quit her tour with the Jonas Brothers and entered a treatment center to seek help for “emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” her rep says in a statement. Now, more light has been shed on the nature and cause of the issues.

She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. … Demi is taking control by getting help.” The source also confirms previous reports that a fight with a dancer on her tour was the driving force behind Lovato’s decision to seek help.
The root of the Disney star’s struggles appears to stem from intense bullying she endured during middle school. The singer felt her burgeoning career made her a target.
Lovato is a spokesperson for PACER’s “Teens Againt Bullying” campaign and wrote on their website, “People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you, but that’s not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven’t forgotten.”
