It would appear that both thanks and congratulations are in order throughout Hollywood on Tuesday (Dec. 14) following the early morning announcement of the 2011 Golden Globe nominees.
Alec Baldwin is up (deservedly, yet again) for his leading role on NBC’s “30 Rock,” and the show itself has been nominated for Best Television Series — Comedy or Musical.
In a press release from NBC Universal, Baldwin says “’30 Rock’ is back, bigger and better than ever! We are very grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press.”
The show’s executive producer, Robert Carlock jokes, “It is truly an honor to be nominated. We couldn’t be more thrilled. Our table will require two vegetarian means. Is now the time to deal with this?”
First time nominee Chris Colfer of “Glee” took to his Twitter account shortly after the announcement to express his excitement.
“OMGG! I can’t believe it! Am I awake? OUCH! Yes, I’m awake! I’m going to obnoxiously tackle everyone I see today!”
Fellow “Glee” star and Globes nominee Lea Michele chimes in, “Oh my g-d!!!! So excited, happy, thrilled, and thankful this morning🙂 What amazing news!! So happy for our show, Jane, matt & chris too!!!!”
Christopher Gorham may not be nominated, but he made sure to send congratulations to pals Piper Perabo of “Covert Affairs” and Peter Gallagher of “Burlesque.”
“Piper was nominated for a Golden Globe!!!!!!! #ThingsThatRule,” the actor tweeted of his co-star’s nomination. He followed up shortly after with, “Congrats are also due to @petergallagher_ for the Golden Globe nom of Burlesque!! Woo hoo!!”
Gallagher responded in kind with a “Thanks, Chris! I had no idea! Cheers for Piper!” tweet.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson was also in a congratulatory mood, tweeting his well wishes for his “Modern Family” co-stars Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara.
“Yay for @ericstonestreet and @SofiaVergara who were nominated for Golden Globes! That’s one hot couple. She better keep her hands off my man,” he joked on Twitter.
Always hilarious, Stonestreet almost shares the love with his castmates. “Honored and grateful. We ARE an ensemble over there. ANY1 of us deserves 2 b nominated,” he tweets.
Continuing, “But IN YOUR FACE @STARRINGRICO AND @NOLAN_GOULD!” referring to his pint-sized co-stars.
As for Michael Douglas, his best supporting actor nomination comes as a happy distraction for the cancer stricken legend.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, “To be selected with these extraordinary nominees is an honor and boy was I ready for some good news!”
Best actress in a TV comedy or musical nominee Edie Falco had this to say following her nomination, “My friends and I at ‘Nurse Jackie’ are thrilled to be recognized for the work we love to do.”
In another NBC press release, Dr. House aka Hugh Laurie says he is “thrilled and honoured” to be nominated. He continues, “I am now going to turn the house upside down looking for that other cufflink.”
We hope Hugh finds it in time for the Jan. 16 show.
