Ricky Gervais and Emily Blunt have joined the growing list of actors making cameos in the new, Jason Segel-written Muppets movie (Segel also plays the main human part). The two Brits join Jack Black, Alan Arkin, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Crystal and Jean-Claude Van Damme (yes, really) as cameo artists. [Heat Vision]
It doesn’t currently have a cast, but the long-in-the-works “Three Stooges” movie has a start date: March 14. Bobby and Peter Farrelly are directing and co-wrote the script with Mike Cerrone. Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio del Toro were originally set for film, but production delays led Penn and Carrey to drop out; del Toro’s involvement is uncertain now. [Deadline]
Ben Foster (“3:10 to Yuma,” “X-Men: The Last Stand”) is joining Mark Wahlberg in the thriller “Contraband,” a remake of the Icelandic movie “Reykjavik-Rotterdam.” Foster is playing the best friend of Wahlberg’s character, a former smuggler who’s dragged into a final job. [The Wrap]
The Sundance Film Festival has stocked its out-of-competition lineup with a number of recognizable actors and directors. The 2011 fest will feature new work by Kevin Smith, Morgan Spurlock, Tom McCarthy (“The Station Agent”) and Miguel Arteta, among others. [Sundance]
