Paging Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig: “American Idol’s” Mandisa Hundley truly is a weight loss inspiration.
The Season 5 finalist has lost 90 pounds over the last two years. What prompted the weight loss? “I had gained weight and was so frustrated at that moment that I said so on Twitter,” she tells The Associated Press.

I will always struggle with my weight. It’s the thorn in my flesh.” The singer has chronicled her weight troubles on Twitter, interacting with fans and not holding back. After stepping on the scale and hating the number she saw, she tweeted, “I’m fed-up and over it.” While she usually uses her Twitter to post positive thoughts, she explains why she chose to tweet about her struggle with her weight: “I was feeling embarrassed and ashamed. I realized that I had only talked about how great things were. I never let people in when they were not. It was then that I decided I’d talk about the bad things too.”
Mandisa doesn’t have a goal weight, but does have a life goal: “My only goal is to be healthy physically, spiritually, and emotionally. That is a lifelong journey.”
