The racy, slur-filled videos that cost Navy Capt. Owen Honors his job this week featured a cameo by Emmy-winning actress Glenn Close — and she’s not at all happy about that.
Honors was relieved of his duty as captain of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise on Tuesday (Jan. 4) after several videos he filmed and showed to the ship’s crew were made public. The videos, which feature simulated sex acts, anti-gay slurs and other attempts at crude comedy, were leaked to the Virginian-Pilot newspaper in Norfolk, Va., which published a story about them last weekend.
Close visited the aircraft carrier in 2006 and was asked to say something on camera. According to the Washington Post, she appears in one of Honors’ videos (made when he was the ship’s executive officer) sitting at a desk with a stuffed parrot in her lap. Whatever she says to the camera is drowned out the audio track — Peter Cetera’s sappy anthem “Glory of Love.”
