Less than one month into 2011 and it’s becoming quite clear that it might not be Katie Holmes‘ year.
Her hyped portrayal of Jackie O in “The Kennedys” fell out of favor at The History Channel, before quickly being snubbed by most other pay cable networks, and now her big showing at Sundance is prompting the label of “bomb” from multiple outlets.
The Hollywood Reporter says that a Jan. 24 screening of Holmes’ “The Son of No One” — which also includes Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche and Channing Tatum — started without a packed house and ended with an even smaller audience.
“The negative response went beyond the walkouts,” writes THR of the crime thriller’s awkward debut. “One viewer’s attempt to
begin applause after the lights came up drew almost no takers.”
And things could still get a lot worse for “The Son of No One” before the week is up. The film is set to officially premiere of Jan. 28 as a part of the closing night festivities.
