Taking to Twitter Monday (Jan. 24) afternoon, Olbermann promised his followers that “At exactly 8 Eastern tonight I will issue my first tweet. Well, other than THIS one.”
True to his word, at promptly 8 pm he tweeted, “Citizens Of The Free World: Greetings! …….. (more to come) #FOK.”
The hashtag #FOK standing for “Friends of Keith.”
At 8:10 pm he continued, “My humble thanks to all Friends of Keith for the many kind words. The reports of the death of my career are greatly exaggerated #FOK.”
After going silent for some time, just before 9:00, he posted a photo of himself in a Yankees hat and hoodie, accompanied by “Trending in 45 minutes! You guys are so good, you get a “Hellooooooo!” (it was cold here today) #FOK.”
It wasn’t until approximately 10:18 pm that some useful information was posted.
“A little birdie (or possibly a robot skeleton) advises all #FOK to watch @CraigyFerg tonight (that’s always true, but especially tonight),” he hints.
“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” airs at 12:35 am EST.
Rumors have been buzzing that the controversial host could be collaborating with on Friday (Jan. 21). Aaron Sorkin on a comedy pilot that centers around cable news, but after breaking his contract it’s not likely Olbermann will be able to appear on television for a set amount of time. Though he would not likely be restricted from radio or internet.
