The movie version of “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter” has found its young Mr. Lincoln.
Benjamin Walker will play Honest Abe in 20th Century Fox’s movie, which begins filming in March and is scheduled for release in summer 2012. The film is based on Seth Grahame-Smith‘s novel, in which our country’s 16th president is also a warrior against the scourge of vampires.
Walker won the role over the likes of Adrien Brody and Josh Lucas, Variety reports. He comes to the role after playing another president, Andrew Jackson, in the off-Broadway musical “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.”
Grahame-Smith is adapting his best-selling book for the film, which Timur Bekmembatov (“Wanted”) will direct. Tim Burton is a producer.
Walker played the teenage Alfred Kinsey in the 2004 movie “Kinsey,” and he co-starred in Clint Eastwood’s “Flags of Our Fathers” in 2006. He’s also engaged to “Off the Map” star (and Meryl Streep’s daughter) Mamie Gummer.
