ABC would really, really like you to watch the premiere of “Off the Map” on Wednesday (Jan. 12) — but if you don’t have a full hour free, you can get a head start on the show right now.
The network has posted the first act of the show’s pilot online, which you can see up above. The show follows three young doctors (Caroline Dhavernas, Zach Gilford and Mamie Gummer) who for various reasons find themselves working at a remote South American clinic run by Dr. Ben Keeton (Martin Henderson), who walked away from a chief of surgery job at UCLA to found the clinic. Jason George, Valerie Cruz and Rachelle Lefevre also star.
The first act deals with the new docs’ arrival at the clinic, sets out some basic character traits — Gilford’s Tommy Fuller is cocky, Dhavernas’ Lily Brenner conscientious and Gummer’s Mina Minard a know-it-all — and lays out the stakes and challenges of their new jobs.
“Grey’s Anatomy” veteran Jenna Bans created the show and is executive producing it with “Grey’s” creator Shonda Rhimes (among others). The Hawaii-filmed show premieres at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday on ABC.
What do you think of those 11 minutes? Will you be watching Wednesday?
