Just in case you haven’t reached your Wills and Kate saturation point yet — what with all the sold out dresses and tacky commemorative crockery — Lifetime announced Thursday (Jan. 27) plans to make a movie out of the royal romance.
According to a press release the movie will chronicle, “the friendship between Prince William, second in line to the throne of the British monarchy, and future princess Kate Middleton, the stunning daughter of upper middle-class commoners, blossomed into a romantic love affair, charming the world with their recent engagement and eagerly awaited Royal Wedding.”
“NCIS: Los Angeles” regular Nico Evers-Swindell has been cast as Prince William and Ben Cross (“Chariots of Fire”) will play his father, Prince Charles. No word yet on who will portray Middleton, but since Lifetime plans to air the movie sometime before the April 29 wedding, they’ll doubtless have their Kate in place soon.
With the production being so rushed, major concerns for viewers include whether or not the movie will reach the high bar set by “The Craigslist Killer” and whether or not Lifetime will be able to secure Meredith Baxter for a supporting role.
