The Smith children and reboots seems to be a winning combination these days.
Their son Jaden Smith starred in last summer’s “The Karate Kid,” which made more than $350 million, and now Willow Smith is in talks to star in a remake of the 1982 movie musical “Annie.” Variety reports Will Smith (who produced “The Karate Kid”) is currently in talks with Sony and is eyeing an unexpected, but extremely awesome, music supervisor for the film: Jay-Z
]]>Jay-Z signed Willow to his Roc Nation label last year and has history with “Annie.” Jay-Z sampled the musical’s song “Hard Knock Life” for his single “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and has said he connects with movie’s rags-to-riches theme. Not much is known about the proposed reboot and whether or not it would be a contemporary update of the classic story, although we think it would be pretty cool to see little orphan Annie whip her hair. “Annie” originally starred Albert Finney, Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters and Aileen Quinn in the title role.
What do you think, Zappers? Would you like to see Willow Smith star in an “Annie” remake?
