The “Secret Circle” pilot is keeping it in the CW family.
EW reports that “Life Unexpected’s” Britt Robertson has been cast in the new project which is based on a series of books by “Vampire Diaries” author L.J. Smith. However, the casting news comes with a catch.
“Life Unexpected” hasn’t officially been canceled as the CW has yet to decide on the show’s fate. It’s common for an actor to be cast in a new series while their current series is still part on the network’s lineup. If The CW loves “Secret Circle” and Robertson in it, it could impact “LUX’s” fate.
The project centers on a young woman, Cassie, who moves to a new town and soon learns she is part of a secret coven of witches. If that wasn’t enough pressure for a teenage girl, she is also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.
It hasn’t been announced who Robertson will be playing, but we’re betting it’s the female lead of the show, Cassie, or the leader of the coven (and Cassie’s best friend) Diana.
“The Vampire Diaries” co-creator Kevin Williamson recently came on board the project to write the script and serve as executive producer. “TVD’s” consulting producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain are also executive producing and Liz Friedlander, who has directed “TVD” among other CW shows, will be directing the pilot episode.
