“Cougar Town” is going away for a while after this week’s episode, but when it returns it will get a showcase after ABC’s most-watched show.
The network will air an episode of “Cougar Town” following “Dancing With the Stars” at 9:30 p.m. ET Monday, April 18, before it returns to its regular Wednesday-night home on April 20. “Better With You” will get the same treatment on Monday, April 25.
(“Dancing With the Stars,” by the way, will begin its new season on March 21.)
The “Cougar Town” return date is actually a little bit later than what ABC had initially announced. The show was initially slated to return April 13 (after Matthew Perry‘s new comedy “Mr. Sunshine” finishes its run), leading into the series premiere of “Happy Endings.” ABC has now decided to give the new show the bigger launchpad that is “Modern Family,” thus “Happy Endings” will debut with a pair of episodes at 9:30 p.m. April 13 before settling in at 10 p.m. the following week. (Like NBC, ABC is trying an all-comedy night on Wednesdays in the spring.)
In other Alphabet scheduling news, new drama “Body of Proof” will also air two episodes in its first week on ABC. The series, which stars Dana Delany as a medical examiner, will premiere as scheduled at 10 p.m. March 29. The second episode will air at 10 on Sunday, April 3, following Delany’s previous show, “Desperate Housewives.”
Got all that?
