“The Secret Circle’s” chances for pickup by the The CW just got a whole lot better.
The project already has a “TVD” connection: Consulting producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain are serving as exec producers. The duo previously worked on Joss Whedon’s “Angel” and “Dollhouse.” There is a possibility that “TVD” co-creator Julie Plec could also join the project in the future.
“Secret Circle” is based on a book series of the same name by “TVD” author L.J. Smith. “TSC” follows Cassie, a Californian teen, who moves to New Salem, her mother’s hometown, where she soon discovers she is part of a secret coven of 12 witches, some good and some not-so-good.
Alas, with good news, there always seems to be a bit of bad news
attached. Williamson has notified The CW that he has not had enough
time to focus on the potential “Vampire Diaries” companion series. The
project focused on a group of people who
track unexplained phenomena. There is still a chance the project could move forward in the future, so put down the vervain and stop sharpening those stakes, “TVD” fans. You know what they say about patience.
The CW has already ordered five pilots this season: “Danni Lowinski,” “Awakening,” “Heavenly,” Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s “Hart of Dixie” and “Cooper and Stone.” In the past three years, The CW has ordered six pilots and the last spot is rumored to be between “TSC” and “Acting Out,” a musical and dancing drama a la “Glee.”
