When Katy Perry was the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” earlier this season, we were hoping her husband, Russell Brand, would make a cameo appearance on the show. He didn’t, but he’s making up for it now.
Brand will host “SNL” on Feb. 12, NBC announced Tuesday (Feb. 1). He’ll be joined by musical guest Chris Brown, who like Brand is making his first appearance on the show. And now we suppose we’ll be waiting to see if Perry, who appeared in a sketch in addition to performing two songs, joins Brand on his trip to New York.
Brand (“Get Him to the Greek,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) will also be pulling off the somewhat rare feat of hosting “SNL” without an immediate project to plug. His next movies — a remake of “Arthur” and the animated film “Hop” — are both being released in April.
Brown, meanwhile, is appearing in advance of the March 22 release of his latest album, “F.A.M.E.” He’s nominated for three Grammy Awards and currently has two singles, “No BS” and “Yeah 3x,” in the Billboard Hot 100. Since completing his community-service sentence after pleading guilty in 2009 to felony assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Brown has managed to stay out of the headlines for anything other than his music.
