Judge and fan favorite Jacob Lusk turned in another totally winning performance for “American Idol’s” Motown night. At this point it would be news if the guy didn’t deliver the goods.
His slowly building vocals on the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell duet “You’re All I Need to Get By” had the crowd on their feet by the end of the performance. Not only on their feet, but lining up on the stage to hug the guy, prompting host Ryan Seacrest to joke, “That’s our show for tonight, guys.”
“You know what was wrong with that?” asked judge Randy Jackson, who refrained from telling Jacob he “slayed” the song. “Absolutely nothing.”
Steven Tyler praised Jacob for his restraint. “You held it back, milked it.”
Backstage, Jacob was on cloud nine. “Couldn’t have asked for anything more,” he said. “I’m back, baby, I’m back.” We’re not sure where he’s back from since he, ummm, slayed the Heart ballad “Alone” last week.
What did you think? Was this Jacob’s best performance yet?
