The 1982 “Conan the Barbarian” movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn’t a comedy, but it could certainly be (unintentionally) funny.
Twenty-nine years later, a remake may be following in its footsteps.
Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer for “Conan the Barbarian,” which hits theaters in August. What little you can see, you see through a haze of smoke (mixed in with some ghostly CGI faces), and the only clearly spoken dialogue comes from Conan himself (Jason Momoa of “Stargate: Atlantis”): “I live, I love, I slay, and I am content.”
Points to Momoa (who, regardless of how cheesy the movie turns out to be, seems poised for a breakout) for not over-delivering the line, but we still get the feeling that while this “Conan” might be fun, it may not be fun in the way its makers intended.
