Random. Unexpected. Awesome.
Those were the first three words that came to mind when “Saturday Night Live” announced the hosts for the first two episodes in April.
Making his hosting debut on Apr. 2 is music legend Elton John, who will also share the music stage with Leon Russell. This will be John’s second time performing on the show and his first time back since 1982.
On Apr. 9, Academy Award winner Helen Mirren (“The Queen”) will also make her hosting debut. She’ll be performing hosting duties to help promote her new comedy “Arthur,” also starring Russell Brand.
“SNL” managed to find a musical guest worthy of Mirren: The Foo Fighters. The band will make their seventh appearance on the show, just in time for their new album, “Wasting Light,” due out on Apr. 12.
