In an interesting twist of career-shattering irony, the Las Vegas district attorney who prosecuted both Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars on separate drug charges has been booked on some cocaine charges of his own.
David Charles Schubert, 47, was arrested on Saturday (Mar. 19) and charged with possession of cocaine, which is a felony in the state of Nevada.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Schubert, a member of the federal drug task force, was arrested after allegedly buying crack cocaine from a street dealer. Unfortunately for him, a nearby police officer took notice of the transaction. They later found cocaine, a handgun and large amount of ammunition in Schubert’s car.
The alleged drug dealer is not in custody, but claims that the prosecutor has purchased $40 worth of crack cocaine from him two or three times a week for the past six or seven months.
“It’s disheartening to know the individual who I assigned to prosecute high-level drug cases is allegedly using rock cocaine,” District Attorney David Roger says. “His future is bleak with the district attorney’s office.”
After prosecuting several high profile and celebrity cases, Schubert has been suspended and is in the process of being terminated. Somewhere, Hilton must be laughing. We sure are.
