So Time magazine, in its infinite wisdom (yes, a print publication’s wisdom can indeed be infinite) just published its list of the 140 best Twitter feeds of the moment. The list is wide-ranging and, to make some sense out of all those feeds, broken down into sub-categories.
Author/graphic novelist Neil Gaiman (“The Sandman”) was ranked as the no. 1 readable feed by voters at Time.com, with Kelly Oxford — blogger, TV-pilot writer — coming in second, followed by commentator/comedian Andy Borowitz, Lady Gaga and Andry Carvin. Carvin, fyi, is NPR’s senior strategist for social media.
As for celebrities, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyssa Milano, Felicia Day, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres, Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber and the afore-mentioned Lady Gaga were cited for their fast-paced feeds.
And, among fictional characters, “30 Rock’s” Tracy Jordan leads a pack that includes Jerk Superman, Drunk Hulk, Homer Simpson and Lord Voldemort. The voters must have missed the real Tracy Morgan, who launched his account last year with amazing insights, like: “For $15 I’ll induce your labor.”
Aziz Ansari, Conan O’Brien and Mindy Kaling emerged as standouts in the comedian category.
Left out: The Roots’ philosophical drummer QuestLove, the prolific Kirstie Alley, Tila “break with reality” Tequila, the six or so members of “The Jersey Shore” and Courtney Love — all of whom have taken tweeting to a new level.
Who would you have included in the list?
