Quite honestly, with all the nude pictures of Vanessa Hudgens that are floating around, it’s hard for us to believe that she was ever self-conscious about her weight. But, she’s gracing the cover of the April issue of Shape magazine and she says she was a tubby.
“I was so unhealthy,” she tells Shape. “I used to go to Cold Stone Creamery, get a tub of Butterfinger ice cream and eat it all before bedtime. And my fingers were permanently stained orange from Cheetos.”
If you thought that was attractive, the 22-year-old says she lived on Hot Pockets and never ate vegetables. She looked fine to us. In fact, Cold Stone, Cheetos and Hot Pockets should send her a check.
In 2007, she got her diet together after returning from a short break from the “High School Musical” tour. “When I came back,” she says. “I almost couldn’t get my costume on. I needed to do something about my diet.”
So, what’s the secret to Hudgens’ bikini-friendly body today? Besides a regular workout regimen, she says she eats breakfast every day, which consists of either egg white omelets with veggies or she has oatmeal with almonds and fruit. And for lunch and dinner, she does spinach salads with chicken or salmon and marcona almonds, feta, truffle oil and “a sprinkle of pink Himalayan sea salt.”
Oh, and as to why she and Zac Efron broke up? Other than never being able to order off the menu at restaurants? She says it was the hardship of having a long-distance relationship due to their work schedules.
“Long-distance relationships are hard enough,” she says. “When you don’t have face-to-face time, it’s just different. Having an iPhone helped, but it just wasn’t the same.”
That may explain the nude pictures. Just sayin’.
