As you saw in Wednesday’s (April 20) episode of “Cougar Town,” Laurie is on her way to reclaiming her inner tramp.
“A little bit, yeah,” Busy Philipps tells Zap2it about Laurie going back to her pre-serious relationship ways in the last few episodes of the season. “… With Jules [Courteney Cox] and Grayson [Josh Hopkins] pairing up, and Bobby [Brian Van Holt] is sort of off on his own lone journey, they need someone who’s dating. Every group of friends needs to have one person who’s dating.”
Philipps also talked with us prior to Wednesday’s Academy of Television Arts and Sciences event honoring “Cougar Town” about the chatter surrounding a possible, down-the-road relationship for Laurie and Travis (Dan Byrd). It’s been a topic of discussion both with fans and in the show’s writers room.
“I think that generally what has happened is that Dan Byrd and I are close in real life — in age and just in social groups. We have a lot of the same friends,” she says. “So I think that what was shining through on the television screen was our real-life friendship. … I don’t know if it’s necessarily the way it needs to go. But then again, I’m not in the writers room.”
