Another “Dancing With the Stars” pro suffered a mishap Monday night, but like Maksim Chmerkovskiy a few weeks ago, Karina Smirnoff recovered to help her partner Ralph Macchio earn a solid score.
Smirnoff tripped over the tail of Macchio’s coat about 30 seconds into their paso doble Monday (April 25), and it appeared to disorient her for several seconds after that. Once she and Macchio got back on the same page, though, the rest of their dance — including a wax-on, wax-off hand movement toward the end — was pretty spot-on.
The judges praised the comeback and awarded Ralph and Karina a 24 (8s across the board). We can’t help but think it would have been a couple points higher without the stumble, but they at least stayed out of last place.
