“Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country” was a country music lovers dream come true Friday night (April 22) on CBS. So many big names were in the house and the performances were out of sight.
To cap off the already-wonderful concert, honorees Martina McBride, Naomi and Wynonna Judd, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire and Jennifer Nettles took to the stage to pay tribute to one of the first female country legends – Loretta Lynn.
Loretta couldn’t be with them that night due to recent knee surgery, but she taped a video message and then the wonderful ladies joined in a group sing on Loretta’s autobiographical 1969 hit “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” They could not have picked a better closing number.
Other highlights included Rascal Flatts and Reba jamming on “The Heart Won’t Lie,” Little Big Town and Martina McBride on “When Will I Be Loved,” rock legend John Fogarty and Wynonna on “Proud Mary,” Miranda Lambert and two newcomers Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley on “Hell on Heels” and Carrie Underwood and Vince Gil absolutely slaying “How Great Thou Art.”
