Don’t plan on straight-up country during the April 3 of Academy of Country Music Awards. Sugarland songstress Jennifer Nettles will be performing a duet with… Rihanna.
The country star told Ryan Seacrest that the duet was her idea. “We are just big fans of each other, and so we wanted to do something
that was fun and different and fresh,” she tells the radio host. “I reached out to her and said
‘Hey, anything you wanna do’ and she said ‘I have this song that
specifically I want to do with you.'”
The song? Rihanna’s “California King Bed,” the latest single off of her album, “Loud.” It’s a ballad, so expect it to get the country treatment.
Though it’s kind of surprising for Rihanna to be at the ACMAs, it’s not so much of surprise that it would be with Nettles. The singer is loves to mix it up with other artists. She sang in an unlikely trio with Keri Hilson and Katy Perry for VH1 Divas Salute the Troops.
Excited for the ladies to take the stage together?
