Paula Malcomson is the latest actor to join the ever-growing cast for the high-anticipated Lionsgate film “The Hunger Games.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Malcomson is set to play Katniss and Prim’s mother. Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Willow Shields (Prim) will play her daughters. Katniss’ mother goes into a deep depression after her husband dies, leaving Katniss to be the family’s caretaker.
Malcomson recently starred in “Caprica,” Syfy’s “Battlestar Galactica” prequel. Malcomson has also appeared in “Deadwood” and “Sons of Anarchy.”
Other actors who have recently joined “The Hunger Games” include Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Liam Hemsworth (Gale), Leven Rambin (Glimmer), Jack Quaid (Marvel), Amandla Stenberg (Rue) and Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh). Elizabeth Banks is currently in talks to play Effie, Katniss and Peeta’s pink-haired handler.
“The Hunger Games” is scheduled to hit theaters Mar. 23, 2012.
