You had rumors of Stefano Langone having a crush on Pia Toscano and Haley Reinhart, who was rumored to be dating Casey Abrams. You also can’t forget Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, the teen golden couple.
We decided to look back at all ten seasons and single out the best couples — romantic and bromantic — and leave it up to you to decide which pairing is “Idol’s” best. Go through our list, think long and hard and then vote in our poll — “American Idol” “couple” edition:
Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina — Season 10
The youngest final two ever sparked romance rumors after Lauren planted a few kisses on Scotty after he was crowned Season 10’s winner. After the show, Lauren played coy, but Scotty said the two are just “really good friends.”
Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart — Season 10
Season 10’s jazziest duo dodged dating rumors after a few duets really showed off their chemistry. Casey really got people talking during his performance of “I Put A Spell On You” after he was eliminated when he sang the last line of the song, “Because you’re mine,” looking directly into Haley’s eyes. However, in an exit interview, Casey said, “we were never dating.”
Lee DeWyze and Andrew Garcia — Season 9
Best bromance ever on “Idol”? The two hit it off right away and stayed close even after their season finished. After being eliminated from the competition, Andrew said Lee was his “brother for life.”
Adam Lambert and Kris Allen — Season 8
Probably one of the more popular final two ever, Adam and Kris were roommates throughout their entire season. Though Kris is happily married, it didn’t stop Adam from developing a little crush. We can’t say we blame him. Lambert told Rolling Stone magazine, “I was like, ‘Oh, s—, they put me with the cute guy … Distracting!” Kris later responded to the remark, saying, “I’m flattered and I think it’s hilarious.” Also, their nail polish pact was adorable.
Megan Joy and Anoop Desai — Season 8
The two singers were spotted out together on several dates, including a double date with Adam Lamert and his boyfriend at the time.
David Cook and Michael Johns — Season 7
Come on, the two had a brodances. Do we really need to say anything else? (Our favorite: The one with the “Mavid” umbrellas.)
Chris Richardson and Alaina Alexander — Season 6
Dating rumors began after Alaina sat with Chris’ family in the audience after she was eliminated. Further evidence included a picture of the contestants on Alaina’s Myspace page. Scandalous, we know.
Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini — Season 1
Come on, we couldn’t forget the original idol “couple.” Season 1’s top two were rumored to be dating, but denied any romantic relationship. The show’s producers thought their chemistry was so strong, they had the two star in a movie together, titled “From Justin To Kelly.” Yeah, it flopped. Big time. We can’t imagine why.
Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul
If “Idol” ever had a true love story, it was its eternally fighting judges. Some fans assumed their constant bickering was really flirting in disguise, so “Idol” decided to have a little fun in Season 2 and film a segment uncovering their “affair.” Prepare for the two most uncomfortable minutes of your life in 3…2…1…:
