Guenter Sachs, the billionaire German playboy once married to screen siren Brigitte Bardot, is dead at 78. Sachs shot himself at his home in the Swiss resort of Gstaad, according to Reuters.
A suicide note was released by his family. In it, Sachs allegedly wrote about suffering from a “hopeless illness” and felt that he was losing his ability to communicate clearly.
“That menace was for me always the lone criteria for putting an end to my life,” Sachs said in the note.
Sachs was the great-grandson of Adam Opel, founder of Opel cars. He married Bardot in 1966, but the couple divorced just three years later.
