Deadline reports three dramas — “The Playboy Club,” “Awake” and “Grimm” — have all been ordered to series.
One of the higher profile pilots this season, Chad Hodge‘s 1960s-set “Playboy,” likely has the network hoping for “Mad Men”-style success. It stars David Krumholtz, Eddie Cibrian and Amber Heard — who teased Facebook fans earlier this spring with a photo of herself in full bunny garb.
“Awake” (formerly “REM”) comes from “Lone Star” creator Kyle Killen and follows an “Inception”-like plot of a detective in distress after a car accident shatters his family. It stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”) in the lead role, with Wilmer Valderrama and Steve Harris as supporting players.
The third, “Grimm,” is a fantasy cop procedural, where all the characters are inspired by fairy tales. This last one doesn’t bode well for “17th Precinct,” the supernatural detective series (and veritable “Battlestar Galactica” reunion) from Ron Moore.
Deadline also reports that this may be it for the network’s drama pick-ups.
