Rick Springfield, of “Jesse’s Girl” fame, was arrested on suspicion of D.U.I. in Malibu at 8 p.m. Sunday night, TMZ reports. The Australian ’80s icon was pulled over by the LA County Sheriff’s Department for a traffic violation, when cops smelled booze and asked Springfield to step out of the vehicle.
After performing several sobriety tests, Springfield was breathalyzed twice. His blood alcohol content was measured at .10 and .08. The legal limit in California is .08. Springfield was booked at a nearby jail and eventually released on $5,000 bail.
Springfield’s autobiography, first available in 2010, will be released in paperback on July 5. In the book he details his struggles with depression after he shot to fame in the early 1980s with “Jesse’s Girl.” Springfield spent Sunday promoting the book at the Los Angeles Times book festival.
Tonight, (Monday, May 2), Springfield appears on CBS’s “Hawaii Five-0” in a guest spot as a fashion photographer named Renny.
