“Love in the Wild” is the newest reality show offering this summer. NBC’s “Bachelor”-meets-“Survivor” adventure romance kicks off Wednesday night (June 29) and host Darren McMullen tells the press that there were definitely some good matches made.
“Without giving too much away, I would say a significant number of people found true love, to the point they are sneaking around seeing each other [now that the show has wrapped],” says McMullen. “I think everybody was genuinely surprised at the amount of people that actually, truly fell for each other.”
He even goes so far as to tease possible weddings. “There could be wedding bells for more than one couple, I will say that,” McMullen divulges.
That’s good to hear, especially on the heels of yet another “Bachelor” franchise break-up.
So what makes this such a good environment to foster these relationships? McMullen says it’s a bit of the “Romancing the Stone” phenomenon.
“There were poisonous snakes, deadly spiders, wild boars, crocodiles, you name it and then you add in the elements of basically trekking for sometimes hours on end in extreme heat and rather rugged terrain … whenever you put people in this kind of scenario, all your feelings are, I guess, heightened, which is the premise behind the show,” says McMullen. “It’s the ‘Romancing the Stone’ kind of thing, where you throw two complete strangers into isolated wilderness and see what happens. They either really get along or they don’t get along and we had some of both.”
We can’t wait to see the sparks fly. “Love in the Wild” premieres Wednesday, June 29 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Watch the sneak peek video below for a preview
