We know, we know. That was just a rhetorical question in the headline. A hot blonde twenty-something couldn’t possibly be using her geriatric millionaire boyfriend. That would never happen.
When Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris announced that their wedding is called off just days before the big event, we were all shocked and dismayed, because if their relationship wasn’t the paradigm of romance, where’s the hope for the rest of us?
Now, some are suggesting that Harris never had any intention of tying the knot with Hef. Sources tell TMZ that Crystal was barely involved in the wedding planning because she was focusd on launching her music career. Indeed, her first single was released the day she moved out of the Playboy Mansion. She felt she “couldn’t be married to Hef and have a successful music career.”
She also wasn’t psyched about the “couple hundred dollar” allowance she was living on. (You know, aside from her room and board and clothes and puppies being paid for by Playboy.)
After Hef tweeted his sad news, Crystal sent a message to the media via her official website. “After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my
engagement with Hef. I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the
best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy
we deserve during this time,” she wrote.
She posted that shortly after Tweeting about her new Funny or Die video, in which she introduces herself as “Playboy playmate and Hugh Hefner fiancee Crystal Harris.” At least she has her priorities straight.
