“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm will be back on TV in January — which is likely before his AMC drama returns to the air. The early Hamm comes courtesy of IFC’s comedy “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret” — he’ll appear in five of six episodes in the show’s second season. [IFC]
“Cowboys & Aliens” director Jon Favreau‘s next project behind the camera will be … Wednesday’s (July 27) episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” ABC promises the episode will be shot in his “signature style,” and it also features interviews with “Cowboys & Aliens” co-stars Olivia Wilde and Adam Beach. John Goodman will join the faculty at “Community” this season. Goodman, who currently co-stars in “Damages” on DirecTV, is set to appear in at least six episodes as the head of Greendale’s air-conditioning repair program and a rival to Dean Pelton (Jim Rash). [TVLine]
Speaking of “Community”: The NBC comedy has also signed Michael K. Williams (“The Wire,” “Boardwalk Empire”) as a professor for several episodes in Season 3. He’ll play an ex-con who teaches a biology class the study group takes together. [HitFix]
Fans of “The Walking Dead” who don’t live in the United States won’t have to wait long to see Season 2. It premieres Oct. 16 on AMC, and Fox International Channels, which distributes it worldwide, will begin rolling it out to other countries on Oct. 17. [Fox International]
“Entourage” is ending, but co-star Rex Lee has found his next gig. He’s joining the cast of ABC’s “Suburgatory” as a guidance counselor at lead character Tessa’s (Jane Levy) new high school. He guest-starred in the pilot and has now been made a series regular. [Deadline]
Melissa George (“Alias,” “Grey’s Anatomy”) has joined Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish in the cast of A&E’s miniseries “Bag of Bones,” based on the Stephen King novel. It’s scheduled to air toward the end of this year. [TV Guide]
