The geeky boy and the popular girl. It’s a common relationship on TV — teen TV especially — and no show did it better than “The O.C.” with Seth (Adam Brody) and Summer (Rachel Bilson).
While not at their level of epicness (yet), “Pretty Little Liars“ Lucas (Brendan Robinson) and Hanna (Ashley Benson) remind of us Seth and Summer… except for the whole actually being a couple thing.
That’s right: On “PLL,” the nerdy guy hasn’t scored the hot chick yet. In fact, he actually drove hundreds of miles (we think) to pick up her ex-boyfriend so the two could work it out. If that’s not love, we don’t know what is.
Zap2it recently chatted with Brendan Robinson about comparisons to “The O.C.” couple, the future of “Lunna,” Lucas and Caleb’s bromance and who he thinks “A” is:
Zap2it: Do you think Lucas still has feelings for Hanna or is he OK with her being with Caleb?
Robinson: Yes and no, I think what were transitioning into is the fact the Lucas always has a special place in his heart for Hanna. It’s developing into much more of a platonic friendship, but a very close platonic friendship as opposed to a romance. Granted I have no idea what’s going to happen next, but yes I would say that Lucas at the moment just wants Hanna to be happy whether or not that’s with him or with somebody else. We’ll see what happens.
Do you think Hanna and Lucas could eventually work as a couple?
I do, I really do. I think that they could teach each other more then they’ve taught each other already, but I think that it’s such an unlikely couple, which I’m personally a fan of. I just think it would be really interesting and for awhile there when there was speculation that it might be going in that direction.
In season 1, there was a lot of comparison to Seth and Summer from “The O.C.” and stuff like that. I feel like that relationship from that show is really the thing when you say “The O.C.,” people are like, “Oh yeah, Seth Cohen and Summer, Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson.” It would be really interesting to have something sort of like that on the show as well. We’ll see where it goes, I don’t know, I have no idea.
It was revealed last week that Caleb has actually been living with Lucas. Is there a bromance going on there?
“Oh, absolutely. I was actually talking to Marlene King [executive producer] about this because in this car ride when I go to pick him up, that you see in the finale, I was asking her “So what went on in this car ride, was there absolutely nothing said?” She said that was actually where it starts to, you know, this car ride starts to develop this friendship and she felt like we kind of shared some things that we might not share with anybody, well not share with the entire world but share with friends. So yeah, it’s developing as we speak.
What would you like to see happen with Lucas in Season 2?
I would like to see Lucas and Caleb team up to help the PLLs, like they get informed with the whole “A” thing or at least get some sort of side of the story from them and then kind of help them as there techological backup. I think that would be kind of fun.
Who do you think “A” is?
Personally, I don’t think it’s one person, if that makes sense. I think it might be a couple people who are tag teaming, but I can’t say anything for sure.
