It’s been quite the summer for Matt Stone and Trey Parker. First they win nine Tony Awards including Best Musical for “The Book of Mormon.” Then they secure a deal to bring Cartman’s favorite snack — Cheesy Poofs — to a Wal-Mart near you. And on Wednesday (July 20) Comedy Central decides to keep “South Park” on the schedule through 2013.
According to a report from EW, the cable network has reached an agreement with Stone and Parker to extend “South Park’s” run through a 17th season. In addition the long-running animated series has set the debut date for the second half of Season 15 for Oct. at 10 p.m. ET.
The show, which began in 1997, has aired more than 200 episodes and spawned a movie (“South Park – Bigger, Longer and Uncut”) that delivered a worldwide gross of $83 million and an Oscar nomination.
No word yet on the nutritional information for the Cheesy Poofs.
