Friday (Aug. 19) was apparently “bombard the Internet with freaky imagery from ‘American Horror Story’ day.”

First, FX released a 30-second teaser for its new series featuring, among other things, a rubber- or latex-encased arm reaching down to creepily caress Connie Britton‘s character. Then came the key art for the series:

american horror story poster 'American Horror Story': You've seen the creepy video, now see the even creepier posterYikes. We’re assuming that’s Britton stretched out on the floor, and we now can see the person the arm is connected to — and he’s covered head-to-toe in a rubber suit. With scales down the spine.

So, yeah. Message received, FX: This isn’t your everyday scary show.

“American Horror Story,” co-created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk (“Glee,” “Nip/Tuck”), premieres Wednesday, Oct. 5. ]]>
