Who knew that those who delight in lip-smacking food could talk such smack?
Bourdain tells TV Guide Deen is, “The worst, most dangerous person to America … She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations and she’s proud of the fact that her food is f***ing bad for you … Plus, her food sucks.”
Belying her Southern charm, the 64-year-old TV chef shot back.
“Anthony Bourdain needs to get a life,” she says to the NY Post. “It’s not all about the cooking, but the fact that I can contribute by using my influence to help people all over the country.”
This isn’t the first time Deen has come under fire for her cooking, which typically includes a lot of fat, sugar and salt. In 2009, Deen was chided by Barbara Walters during an episode of “The View.”
Walters questioned Deen saying, “You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast. You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn’t it bother you that you’re adding to [childhood obesity rates]?”
Deen responded that it’s all about moderation.
The Georgia native also faces with criticism for her role as spokesperson for Smithfield Foods, which recently dealt with allegations of animal cruelty at its Waverly, Va. facility.
Deen isn’t the only celebrity chef Bourdain took a chop at during his interview. He also ripped Guy Fieri, Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee. Of Lee he said “I hate her works on this planet.”
Somewhere Gordon Ramsay is miffed he missed out on this.
