Rupert Grint, “Harry Potter’s” Ron Weasley, turns 23 on Thursday (August 25). While he’s left Hogwarts behind, Grint is still acting — next year he’ll appear in “Wartime Wanderers,” based on the true story of 15 members of a soccer team who signed up for World War II.
Grint famously drives an ice cream truck, and his sense of whimsy extends beyond his choice of vehicle. “I’ve never been to Rupert’s house,” co-star Daniel Radcliffe said in a recent EW article, “but I’ve always imagined it to be a little like Pee-wee Herman’s home. I just picture him waking up every morning, then sliding down a waterslide to the breakfast table.”
As we all do, Grint has mixed feelings about the end of the “Potter” films. “I was quite relieved when we wrapped last year,” he said, “But I felt an overwhelming sadness as well. I do miss it; it’s going to take a while to move on.”
For the record, Ron Weasley would be turning 41 this year, according to the “Harry Potter” novels. You know, if he was real.
