Season 2 of “The Talk” is shaping up to look quite a bit different than Season 1 of “The Talk.”
Creator/host Sara Gilbert will be back when the CBS daytime chat show begins its second season next month. So will Julie Chen and, eventually, Sharon Osbourne, who’s asked for a little time off to be with her husband, Ozzy. Co-hosts Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete, however, aren’t likely to join them.
According to Deadline, CBS hasn’t picked up the options for Remini and Peete (but has for the other three hosts). That doesn’t necessarily mean deals with the two won’t get done, but time is getting short — the second-season premiere is set for Sept. 6.
If they don’t return, expect to see a lot of guest hosts in the first few weeks of the season. Someone will have to fill the seats next to Gilbert and Chen.
The show as a whole, meanwhile, has been doing reasonably well lately. It averaged 2.2 million viewers in July, its best performance in five months, and for the season has improved the ratings for its time period in its target demographic of women 25-54.
