There will be more “Bones” coming your way in the 2011-12 season. Or possibly in the summer of 2012. Or in the season after that.
Those details have yet to be worked out, but the bottom line is that FOX has ordered four more episodes of the show, TVLine reports. The network initially ordered a smaller-than-usual 13 installments for Season 7 (primarily due to star Emily Deschanel‘s pregnancy), so the total now stands at 17.
Because the airdates for the four additional hours are so much in flux, executive producer Stephen Nathan says he and his fellow writers are planning them as “a mini-season” that will stand apart from the other 13 shows.
“We’re constructing the season so that the finale is Episode 13,” Nathan tells TVLine. “And then there will ultimately be four more episodes that we can play with. [The network] could run them on a different night, they could run them in the summer, or they could hold them for fall .”
The new, already planned season of “Bones” premieres Thursday, Nov. 3 on FOX.
