Clooney, busy promoting the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival, told reporters Wednesday (Aug. 31) that acting is the only job for him.
“I have a really good job,” he says, according to the AP. “I get to hang out with very seductive people. So I have no interest.”
He’s also very honest about how thankless the job seems to be, pointing out to the embattled President Obama.
“As for running for president, look, there’s a guy in office right now who is smarter than almost anyone you know, who’s nicer and who has more compassion than almost anyone you know,” says Clooney. “And he’s having an almost impossible time governing. Why would anybody volunteer for that job?”
His role in “March” probably doesn’t make a campaign seem to enticing either. Clooney, who also directed and co-wrote the film, plays a candidate whose ambitions run the risk of being thwarted in the wake of a sex scandal.
In case you missed it, here’s the trailer. “Ides of March” hits theaters Oct. 27.
