ABC is doubling up on “Modern Family’s” season premiere, and the first of the back-to-back episodes promises to take viewers for a ride. On horseback.
The show filmed its first episode of Season 3 on location in Jackson Hole, Wyo., where Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Phil (Ty Burrell) set out in search of … something. We don’t know what exactly, but we’re guessing it might have something to do with guest star Tim Blake Nelson, who plays a cowboy at the ranch. Just a guess.
We’re also rather excited to see Gloria (Sofia Vergara) on horseback — although it doesn’t look like this particular animal is to her liking.
The second half of the premiere involves Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) planning to break the news that they want another baby to the family. Things don’t go exactly as planned, though (surprise). Meanwhile, “Claire [Julie Bowen] and Jay are each consumed with proving a certain point,” which from the looks of things may involve video evidence.
And we haven’t forgotten about the new, more grown-up Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). Here she is sharing a moment with her Aunt Claire.
“Modern Family” premieres at 9 p.m. ET Sept. 21 on ABC.
