Paul McCartney became engaged to Nancy Shevell back in May and now the couple has posted their notice that they plan to get married at London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall. This requisite notice, known as a “banns” in England, just indicates the location. It does not give any indication of a time frame, though they are required to wait at least 16 days before getting married, which puts the earliest date at Sept. 30. The latest date would be Sept. 14, 2012, as you have one year from the time notice is posted.
The Old Marylebone Town Hall was the site of McCartney’s first marriage to Linda McCartney, who passed away in 1998. It has often been called the “Rock ‘n Roll venue” because fellow Beatle Ringo Starr and Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher also got married there.
Superintendent Registrar Alison Cathcart, who expects to perform the McCartney-Shevell ceremony, tells People of the couple, “They were lovely, very relaxed and very charming and clearly in love with each other. They were excited.”
