“The Dark Knight Rises” broke out the Batwing for filming in downtown Los Angeles over the weekend, and we are suitably impressed by the looks of the thing.
It looks less like a bat and more like a very large, mechanized insect in the footage shot by this enterprising videographer with a knowledge of the fact that the production can’t enforce a “no photos” rule if he’s on a public street.
In the video above, you can see the Batwing glide along under the oft-filmed 6th Street Viaduct downtown. (We’re assuming the wires will not be visible in the finished film.) You can see a from-the-back view of the Batwing in this video and a less obscured side view here.
“The Dark Knight Rises” has been filming in downtown L.A. for the past several weeks, and there’s a plethora of paparazzi footage of locations and scenes being filmed on the web. The actual movie is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2012.
