A blog called Talk of the Sound ran a story Wednesday (Oct. 26) that said Chelsea Clinton may be mulling a run for Congress in 2012. The blog writes:
“Clinton has been approached by ‘the right people’ in the New York
Democratic Party, according to one source in Albany. While no decision
has been made, Clinton is said to be ‘actively considering’ a
Congressional run from New York State in 2012.”
The blog also asserts that Chelsea would be looking at running in New York’s 18th district, the district in which Chelsea’s parents have had a home for the past 12 years. That district is currently represented by Congresswoman Nita Lowey.
But Lowey’s office tells the New York Daily News that she is not leaving office in 2012 and Clinton’s spokesman tells the NYDN, “This is 100% false. She is not running for Congress in the 18th District or any other.”
We’d have to think if Chelsea ever did decide to run, she would probably be very successful. She’s got a huge political pedigree, plus she’s smart and articulate all on her own.
