Actor Jeff Conaway‘s death was accidental, the Los Angeles County coroner has ruled.
The former “Grease” and “Taxi” star died May 27 at age 60. An autopsy report on Conaway determined the cause of death was a major internal infection, the AP reports. Toxicology tests weren’t performed because Conaway had been in the hospital for more than two weeks when he did.
Coroner Craig Harvey did note, though, that Conaway did have drugs in his system when he entered the hospital on May 10.
Conaway had struggled with addiction and chronic pain for years and had appeared on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” in 2008.
