Considering that the first 150 pairs of Nike Mags raised $921,290 for charity, we think it’s safe to say there’s a big market for “Back to the Future” swag. And the DeLorean Motor Company is ready to capitalize on the trend.
The DeLorean Motor Company of Humble, Texas is not quite the DeLorean car company we remember; currently, it is a 60 employee specialty company that supplies parts and sometimes builds new cars for DeLorean enthusiasts. However, the company is poised to rocket into the future by releasing custom-made electric DeLoreans by 2013.
The gull-wing, stainless-steel cars will be able to reach 125 mph and have a range of at least 70 miles on a single charge. The best news of all, however, is that the batteries will be provided by a California company called Flux Power. So essentially, each electric DeLorean will be fitted with its very own flux capacitor (of sorts).
The cars carry a hefty price tag: about $90,000 dollars. But think of the money you’ll save on gas when you install your Mr. Fusion and simply use banana peels and discarded Diet Coke cans. And it’s a lot safer than rigging it up to a runaway train.
