[Hello. It’s Spoiler Alert here. Don’t want to know about the lives of the Upper East Siders until you watch it? Stop now.]
Blair (Leighton Meester) and Louis (Hugo Becker) finally broke the news to the only people left who didn’t know they’re preggers, the family. It went over surprisingly ok, or at least until they started talking about where the family was going to live, where the child would go to school and general life details. That’s when the poop hits the fan.
Blair decides that she and Louis should move to France. But that’s not enough for the deceitful Beatrice and her mother who really don’t fancy Blair or her position as a future royal. So they conspire to undermine the happy couple. Never has legal wrangling been so catty.
As we learned last week, Serena’s (Blake Lively) job hinges on her ability to secure the movie rights to Dan’s book. She tries to make nice-nice with her ex, but Dan’s agent isn’t having any part of it because there’s already interest from big named producers. So Serena does the only thing any aspiring Hollywood exec would do, lie about work to the detriment of a personal relationship. In the end, she might just lose out on both ends – her job and Dan.
Then there’s Charlie/Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) and her ongoing blackmail at the hands of Diana (Elizabeth Hurley). When faced with the option of absconding with the motherload of Upper East Side dirt, she thinks twice before following her worst instincts. She obviously unclear that blackmail doesn’t really have an endpoint.
Oh, and if you missed Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) 27-second psychoanalytical dress down, you missed out on quality TV. He’s gearing up for a emotional collapse that should be fun to watch.
Until next week. Uh oh. Uh oh.
